As this year comes to an end, I would like to share some of my favourite books I have read this year!
- Six of Crows (Six of Crows #1)
Six of Crows is one of the first books I have read this year and honestly one of my favourites. Six of Crows is a fantasy novel written by Leigh Bardugo. The story is set in the same world as the Grisha series but you don’t have to have read those books to enjoy
the Six of Crows duology. I really liked the concept of this somewhat magical world. It doesn’t seem too farfetched. And the characters are what really made me love the book. The storyline is very intriguing and thrilling. It’s rarely boring. I absolutely loved this book and could not wait to get my hands on the second one. I definitely recommend it!
- Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows #2)
Crooked Kingdom is the second book of the SoC duology. I have to say that I enjoyed this one even more than the first one. Once again it’s a very thrilling and compelling plot.
- A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic #1)
I had heard so much about this book but was careful not too expect too much. It was a good read and I liked it. I had been excited to read a book set in a magical world and I was not disappointed. The concept is very intriguing. It’s set in London, but there are different, parallel Londons. In each London, magic plays a different role. The book follows a character who is one of the rare people who know of and can travel in between the different Londons. Although I haven’t read the rest of this book series, I highly recommend this first book!
- Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
I’m sure you have heard of this book by now, everybody was talking about this book. It’s a coming-of-age young adult novel. I must say, I did not enjoy it as much as other people seemed to, to be honest. It definitely is a good read and I believe this is one of the books you just have to read yourself to really be sure whether you like it or not.
- Every Day
I read this one quite recently and the reason I read it was the concept of the storyline. It is about a person who wakes up in a different body, different life every morning. One day everything changes. I must say that I enjoyed everything in the book except for the ending. I feel like the author just took ‘the easy way out’ with that ending. Despite that, I definitely recommend it!
- Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda
This book had been on my to-be-read for ages. I finally got around to reading it and I was definitely not disappointed. I really enjoyed reading it, I liked the characters and the ending was nice. This book was also made into a movie which is set to be released in March 2018 under the title Love, Simon. I suggest to read it before it comes out!
I hope to read more great books in 2018! My January TBR is already out, so check that out here!
