2017! New Year, New Me?

January 9, 2017

It’s 2017! Last year’s been crazy, not for me personally but globally and like many other people I’m glad that 2016 is over. For me it just has been a waste of a year, therefore I’m looking forward to 2017.

So, do I set myself new year’s resolutions / goals? Will I accomplish them? What’s the point of new year’s resolutions if I probably won’t follow through with them anyway?

I asked myself these questions but I was not sure. Recently I watched a video of someone speaking about new year’s resolutions and realised that that’s exactly how I understand and view the start of a new year and its resolutions.

I have come to the conclusion that I will set myself new year’s resolutions and goals. Let me tell you why; The start of a new year is just a great time to check in with myself and think about my priorities for this year and what I want to accomplish. But then I also have to continue to check in with myself throughout the year and ask myself if my priorities have changed or if I still want to do that one thing I set my mind to at the beginning of the year. So I will not pressure myself into doing everything because these resolutions are what my priorities and goals are right now, and I know that priorities change over the year.

So why don’t you set yourself some resolutions and goals and see what happens?

I wish you all the best for 2017! x

How To: Positive Mindset

November 13, 2016
be happy

First of all, I have not uploaded in over a month and I want you to know I didn’t because I didn’t feel inspired to write at all. Anything I’d have written during that time wouldn’t have been worth uploading on this blog. I hope you understand. Well anyway, hope you enjoy this one xx

Everyone has those down days where you feel sad, stressed and/or anxious. During that time it’s important to stay positive and not let the negative thoughts get the best of you. In this post I’m not talking about being positive for a few days but having a positive mindset.

First things first, it’s important to be grateful for what you have. Whether it’s your home, your family, your belongings or your whole environment. And appreciate the little things, too. Like waking up at 3am and still having hours to sleep, walking on warm grass during summer or putting on warm clothes that have just come out of the dryer.

Remember that you’re unique. This sounds cheesy but nevertheless it’s true. There’s nobody in the world just like you. Always be the best version of yourself that you can be. Be nice to other people, it’ll not only make them feel good but yourself as well.

Dream big, work hard and be passionate. We learn from our mistakes so don’t let a little error stop you from doing what you love. As humans it’s in our nature to strive for great things. Don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone. One of my favourite quotes of all time is :“The people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” – Steve Jobs

Choose to be happy. When you’re feeling sad, tell yourself to get over it. This might sound stupid but it actually works for me. Stop whining and do something about the reason you’re upset.

Don’t be afraid to be selfish. If you don’t feel like doing something, then don’t. Sometimes you need to care about yourself before you can care about others.

I really enjoyed writing this post as I truly believe in everything I wrote.

I hope it’s helpful and you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it. If you did, please leave a like or comment. xx

Best TV series

August 21, 2016
American Crime Story

In my blog post Best Movies, I made a list but since I won’t be talking about as many TV series I’m not going to just do a list of good TV series but I will talk and write a little review about every single one. It’s not going to be a summary but actually a review and that’s why I linked the Wikipedia page of every series, there you can read a summary.

Since watching a TV series is much more commitment than watching a movie, I think reviews are appropriate and a better way of showing you guys my favourite TV series and why I love / watch them. Enjoy!

American Crime Story

American Crime Story is like American Horror Story but, as the name already gives away, it’s not a horror series but a crime series. Just like American Horror Story, each season is different. The past and first season was about the case of O.J Simpson, the next one will be about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Everything’s based on true stories and I think that’s also part of why this series has become so popular already, even though only one season is out. I enjoy watching American Crime Story, it’s really as good as everyone says it is.

Empire is a series that I’ve loved ever since the pilot came out. It’s about music, family, the streets and drama. It’s not only entertaining but the music they create is very good as well. There really is a lot of drama but it’s not repetitive or boring, it’s good drama and the writers have been doing a great job. The storyline contains plot twist after plot twist.

Scorpion is called a action drama TV series but it has much less drama than Empire. It’s more about the action part whereas by action isn’t meant the typical fighting scenes etc. but more ‘normal’ action. I can’t really describe it but this show is really something different. It’s nothing like the other TV series I watch but it’s very good and I recommend it.

Every episode of this series is very exciting and gripping. The plot is written so well. You never know what happens next and that’s what makes it great. I’m also in love with the characters, they’re all different, yet fit together so perfectly. This is another TV series I highly recommend.

White Collar

White Collar is probably my favourite series I have watched so far. The main theme is not very original but White Collar is, it’s so good that I actually watched the whole series twice. I love the characters, the plot, and just everything about this series. Even though it might not be very original, the whole storyline throughout all of the six seasons is really thrilling and exciting. I’m not sure I’ve felt this many emotions because of a series before. You should definitely watch this one.

This series is really all about mystery and drama. What I like most about Pretty Little Liars are the characters. They’re all very different and have their own story. Even though I must say some parts of the whole series are repetitive, it’s still a entertaining show, so before you believe anything negative about it, I suggest you watch it yourself first.

Criminal Minds

I have been watching Criminal Minds for years now and I can honestly say that there’s not a single episode that was boring or I didn’t like. Criminal Minds is a series that you don’t have to watch all previous episodes of to understand it but the characters do have a history together, therefore I recommend you start at the beginning. I know eleven seasons is a lot but if you have time, it’s really worth it. This has to be one of my favourite series ever.

Just like Criminal Minds, I had been watching Castle for years. It’s a really exceptional TV  series. It’s never boring but lively. The whole storyline never seems made up, as in you don’t realise that it’s fake since it doesn’t have too much drama or it’s too funny, if you know what I mean. And you actually fall in love with the characters throughout all of the eight seasons. And it’s worth watching the whole eight seasons of Castle.

I am pretty sure you have heard of Friends before, it’s a classic. I originally started watching Friends because my friend asked me to and I’ve always wanted to watch it anyways, so I did and at first I didn’t really like it but after a couple of episodes you get really into it. Now I really enjoy watching Friends.

Fresh Prince

This one’s another classic. I actually enjoy this series a little bit more than Friends but I don’t know why. It’s a funny series and really entertaining. It’s something you can watch when you’re on your phone or doing chores, it doesn’t need that much attention, it’s easy to watch if you know what I mean. Same thing goes for Friends.

Hope you enjoyed this post! Have a great week x

How To: Stop Procrastinating

August 2, 2016

This is something a lot of people struggle with, including me. I’m not saying I stopped procrastinating but I want to share some things that help me. I’m someone who likes to be productive and ahead of things but being procrastinating is just so easy. So let’s do this together, here are a few ways you can stop procrastinating!

What ever you want to do, plan it. And when I say plan it, I mean you actually should plan it. You should write it down. This is something I’ve experienced. If you write down what you want to do, you’re more likely to do it. If you don’t write it down, you might either forget it or just tell yourself that you’ll “do it later” and we know that “later” means never.

Make a smart to-do list by including only the items that you’re avoiding, not the ones you know you’ll do anyway. Then set deadlines. This compliments the point above about writing your plans down.

Take a minute or even just a few seconds and close your eyes, tell yourself that you’re actually going to do it. This sounds silly, but it’s worth a try, isn’t it?

As I’ve once said before, I really like this sentence: “You are getting distracted because you are allowing yourself to get distracted.” A lot of us often procrastinate when it comes to studying. (If you want tips on studying, check this post out.) If you want to do something, turn everything that could distract you off.

Break the task down to lessen the sense of being overwhelmed. Once you start to enjoy a small accomplishment or two, you’re more likely to finish. Do it step by step. It will be easier.

Make your intentions public. This will add pressure, but for some of us, avoiding embarrassment is the mightiest motivator. When I’m really struggling to do something, I tell my friends about how I’m going to do it the next day or week and this pressure actually helps. But you shouldn’t stress yourself. Do this when it’s something small you’re avoiding but something you have to do.

Finishing the largest item on your list of things to do will make you feel extra productive and give you the boost to do other things you’ve been pushing to the side. So begin with the largest one.

Don’t be a perfectionist. If you’re waiting for the perfect time, the perfect supplies, you’ll never do it. Avoid this “perfect” thinking by considering quantity over quality.

It’s easy to see only the giant list of things to do, rather than the anxiety-free feeling of accomplishment at having finished them. As you work, focus on all the free time, relaxation, money, whatever it may be that you get when you finish. This will help you to stay on task and work towards your goal.

Do one task at a time. Although it seems like multitasking is doing more work in a small amount of time, multi-taskers are often inefficient and do much less work. So focus on one thing at a time and once you’ve finished, do the next thing.

Change your environment. Different environments have different impact on our productivity. Look at your work desk and your room. Do they make you want to work or do they make you want to snuggle and sleep? If it’s the case, you should look into changing your workspace.

Give yourself a break. If you can’t seem to focus and are working half-heartedly at your tasks, give yourself a brief break. Set a timer for five to ten minutes, and take a nap or read a book. Do whatever it is you’ve been daydreaming about so that the temptation is removed once you get back to work. Just be sure to follow through with your deadline rather than ignoring it when your alarm finally goes off.

And finally.. JUST DO IT.

I hope you enjoyed it and it helps you. Have a good rest of the week xx

Brandy Melville / H&M haul

July 25, 2016

A few days ago I was shopping and bought some clothes from H&M and Brandy Melville, and a pair of shoes from Footlocker, therefore I decided to do a haul. I’ve never written one before so I hope you enjoy it! All the clothes and shoes will be linked below. Sometimes I couldn’t find the exact one so I linked similar ones!

First I wanted to show you the plain white tee I bought. I just felt like I need one, it’s just basic and goes with everything.

Next is this tank. The fabric is super soft and nice to wear. You might not know this but in Brandy Melville everything is one size, so it’s not like I bought a size too small, this is how it’s supposed to be.

I bought another white cropped top. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures with this one on because I didn’t have it with me when I took the pictures.

H & M

From H&M I bought this off-shoulder top. It’s also very comfortable and I prefer to wear it with black jeans or shorts.

I bought a dress, too. I rarely buy dresses, I don’t know why, but I really like this one. I think the pattern is nice and it’s not too short. I couldn’t find the exact same dress online, therefore I linked a similar one.

Next thing I bought are these super comfortable shorts. I love this colour. They’re kind of high-waisted but you can wear them just on your waist as well.

I absolutely love these shoes. I love the colour and the design. I couldn’t find these exact shoes but I found a similar one and one that’s the right model but wrong colour. Yes they’re from the men section but they didn’t have the shoes I wanted in the women section and who cares to be honest.

Well I hope you guys enjoyed this haul! If you want me to do more of these, let me know. Have a good week xx
