January Wrap Up

February 4, 2018

Here are the books I’ve read in January!

  • Milk and Honey

(goodreads rating: 4 stars)

I didn’t plan on reading this book but a friend convinced to give it a try. I enjoyed reading it. I love how you the author really managed to put her emotions into words. I adored the poems and I definitely recommend it.

  • The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles #1)

(goodreads rating: 3 stars) I actually wrote a review on this book on my goodreads. Check that out here!

  • Tell Me Three Things

(goodreads rating: 4 stars) When I started reading this, I didn’t really know what it was about. I must say I really loved the book! I read it in two days, which means that I really loved the author’s writing. I also liked that you could really relate to the main character in one way or another. The author really succeeded in creating a great character for this book. Not only the main character but also others were written really good. Although I loved the book, I didn’t give it 5 stars because I still feel like something was missing.

  • The Book Thief

(goodreads rating: 3 stars) I also wrote a review on this book on goodreads, here. I found most of the book quite slow, almost boring. I adored the characters but rarely anything happened. I still recommend it, though. I believe it’s a book you should definitely read. It’s special.

My Favourite Books 2017

January 24, 2018

As this year comes to an end, I would like to share some of my favourite books I have read this year!

  • Six of Crows (Six of Crows #1)        soc

Six of Crows is one of the first books I have read this year and honestly one of my favourites. Six of Crows is a fantasy novel written by Leigh Bardugo. The story is set in the same world as the Grisha series but you don’t have to have read those books to enjoy
the Six of Crows duology. I really liked the concept of this somewhat magical world. It doesn’t seem too farfetched. And the characters are what really made me love the book. The storyline is very intriguing and thrilling. It’s rarely boring. I absolutely loved this book and could not wait to get my hands on the second one. I definitely recommend it!

  • Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows #2)

Crooked Kingdom is the second book of the SoC duology. I have to say that I enjoyed this one even more than the first one. Once again it’s a very thrilling and compelling plot.

  • A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic #1)

I had heard so much about this book but was careful not too expect too much. It was a good read and I liked it. I had been excited to read a book set in a magical world and I was not disappointed. The concept is very intriguing. It’s set in London, but there are different, parallel Londons. In each London, magic plays a different role. The book follows a character who is one of the rare people who know of and can travel in between the different Londons. Although I haven’t read the rest of this book series, I highly recommend this first book!

  • Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universeari-and-dante

I’m sure you have heard of this book by now, everybody was talking about this book. It’s a coming-of-age young adult novel. I must say, I did not enjoy it as much as other people seemed to, to be honest. It definitely is a good read and I believe this is one of the books you just have to read yourself to really be sure whether you like it or not.

  • Every Dayevery day.jpg

I read this one quite recently and the reason I read it was the concept of the storyline. It is about a person who wakes up in a different body, different life every morning. One day everything changes. I must say that I enjoyed everything in the book except for the ending. I feel like the author just took ‘the easy way out’ with that ending. Despite that, I definitely recommend it!

  • Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agendasimon-vs

This book had been on my to-be-read for ages. I finally got around to reading it and I was definitely not disappointed. I really enjoyed reading it, I liked the characters and the ending was nice. This book was also made into a movie which is set to be released in March 2018 under the title Love, Simon. I suggest to read it before it comes out!

I hope to read more great books in 2018! My January TBR is already out, so check that out here!

My January TBR (to be read)

January 7, 2018
Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

My tbr list is quite long but these are the books I want to read this month!

  • The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles #1) (by Mary E. Pearson)

I have been meaning to read this book for ages. It’s a YA fantasy novel. You can find a short summary here.

  • Tell Me Three Things (by Julie Buxbaum)

Yet another book that’s been on my tbr for too long! It’s a contemporary YA novel. You can find a short summary here.

  • The Book Thief (by Markus Zusak)

This is definitely a must and I’m ashamed to say that I haven’t read it yet! It’s historical fiction. You can find a short summary here.

I like to keep my tbrs short because I know that I will most likely have to read other books for class as well as the fact that I just might not have enough time to read more than three books.

If you want to keep up with me, add me on goodreads! It’s a great website and app that allows you to connect with others who enjoy reading as much as you do.

I will also do reviews of the books I will have read at the end of January.

Have a good week! x

Current Favourites

November 19, 2017

Where have I been? Honestly, I don’t even know myself. These past six months felt like an eternity full of stress, yet now that they’re over, it feels like they’ve gone by so fast. Anyway, I am back now!

  • Feels by Calvin Harris ft. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, Big Sean (YouTube)

  • Power by Little Mix ft. Stormzy (YouTube)

This is a band I recently discovered, they are quite new and therefore don’t have many songs. However, the music they have released so far is so good! Their vibe is quite 90s, yet modern. You should check them out; Would You Mind (YouTube), Teacher (YouTube), Open Arms (YouTube)

These are only the shows I have recently started watching. I watch a few others, too.

  • Stranger Things

Let me start by saying that this show honestly is just as good as everybody says. Usually people tend to “overhype” things but believe me when I say it’s worth watching.

  • Designated Survivor

This is a quite recent discovery of mine. I didn’t know what this was about when I watched the pilot and I was positively surprised. Definitely worth checking out.

  • Dynasty

Yet another show I never thought I would enjoy. It’s fun to watch, not really too complicated.

  • Riverdale

This is a series that, in my honest opinion, is a little overhyped. The show is not bad but definitely not as good as everybody says it is. The first couple of episodes are somewhat boring/annoying but you really start to enjoy it after the first few episodes. I have watched all episodes so far and I still dislike 85% of the characters but the plot has definitely developed well. I might or might not stop watching, I don’t know yet. But I suggest you watch it and see for yourself.

I hope you enjoyed this post and found some new likes! I will try to get back to uploading regularly.

Have a good week! x
